Why are you trying to collect money from me when I never borrowed from you?

When a creditor (for example a bank, credit card company, or other type of lender) does not receive timely payments on an account over a period of time, they may choose to send these debts to a company such as Credit Control, LLC to collect on that debt. Our goal at Credit Control, LLC is to help you get this matter resolved as soon as possible so that you can move on to other important journeys in your life.

How can I find out the original creditor/lender for this account?

If you have received a letter or email from us, look for a field that says Original Creditor or Creditor to see the creditor or lender that you opened the account with. If you are unable to locate it, please feel free to email us or call us at 1-888-365-7145 and we will be happy to provide that information to you.

I have made the required payments to either settle or pay off my account. Can you send me a letter or email showing this?

If your account has been paid off or settled with Credit Control, LLC, please contact us using the email form, and we’ll be happy to send a confirmation to you. Be sure to include your name and account number. Please also note that we will only be able to send this to the email address or mailing address we have on file. If these are no longer valid, please call us directly for further assistance.

What types of payment plans or other options may be available to pay off or settle my account?

I'm having trouble paying my bills. Do you have any options to assist me?

What if I'm unable to pay right now?

We certainly understand that circumstances happen that may make it challenging at times to pay the bills. If you are not able to currently resolve your account, we would like the opportunity to work with you on exploring other options. Even if you are not able to make a payment right now, please call us at 1-888-365-7145 and let us know.

Do you charge a fee to make a payment on your website or on the phone?

No, Credit Control, LLC does not charge a fee to make a payment on our website or over the phone.

I resolved my account, what happens now?

After your account is resolved with us, Credit Control, LLC will notify the current account owner of the status of the account.

I already paid this account off with the company I owed the money to. What do I need to do now since you show the money is still owed?

If you believe you have either paid off or settled this account with the creditor, please provide us with the evidence of this payment so that we can provide it to our client to research this matter further.

Credit Reporting

Why does my account still show open on my credit report even though I have paid it off or settled the account?

Credit Control, LLC provides monthly updates to the credit bureau(s), generally near the beginning of the month, that shows the status of your account as of the end of the prior month. Unfortunately, we have no control over how quickly your credit report will be updated. For more information on the credit bureau timelines, please contact the credit reporting agency directly.

It is also possible that there may be information on your credit report regarding the same debt which is furnished to the credit reporting agencies by the original creditor or by other third parties. Credit Control, LLC does not control the information reported by those companies and cannot request that the information they reported be updated. We are only able to update information that is listed on your credit report under Credit Control, LLC. For more information about other tradelines that appear on your credit report, please contact the credit reporting agencies directly. You may also contact the company / creditor reporting those tradelines.

Why does the Original Creditor tradeline or other information about my account still appear on my credit reports?

It is possible that there may be information on your credit report regarding the same debt which is furnished to the credit reporting agencies by the original creditor or by other third parties. Credit Control, LLC does not control the information reported by those companies and cannot request that the information they reported be updated. We are only able to update information that is listed on your credit report under Credit Control, LLC. For more information about other tradelines that appear on your credit report, please contact the credit reporting agencies directly. You may also contact the company / creditor reporting those tradelines.

Website

I had trouble logging in to the website. (Account number not recognized, invalid login, could not log in)

Here are some things to check or to try if you are having trouble logging in to our website:

1) Your Credit Control, LLC account number or reference number is listed on each of our letters and emails. If your account number includes alpha characters before the numbers, please include those characters as well.

2) If you have not received a letter or email from Credit Control, LLC, please ensure that you are contacting the correct company as there are other companies/organizations that start with or include the words “Credit Control”.

3) If you have previously received an email or letter from Credit Control, LLC, but you no longer have a copy of it, please contact us at 1-888-365-7145 for verification and to obtain your account number.

I tried to make a payment, but had an issue.

If you received an error with your payment, please check the following, then try again:

1) Please verify that your bank account or card information is correct by comparing it to a blank check, your debit or credit card.

2) Please verify that you have sufficient funds in your account. If not, your payment may be rejected.

3) Try a different form of payment. (Not all of our clients allow credit card payments, so you may need to use an alternate payment method.)

If you’re still having trouble making your payment, please call as at 1-888-365-7145 for assistance and we’ll be happy to take your payment over the phone. No fees are charged for this service.

Other

I believe I am a victim of identity theft, what should I do?

If you believe you did not open this account and that it is the result of identity theft, please provide one of the following documents:

A) an Identity Theft Report generated via the federal government’s website: identitytheft.gov
B) a completed police/incident report
C) a notarized affidavit of fraud or identity theft
